Plucky the Turkey

We welcomed Plucky, a very lucky turkey, to Cedar Row Farm Sanctuary in September 2012. Plucky came from an industrial turkey hatchery, where the unwanted males are gassed. The gassed males are sent to a Wildlife Sanctuary in bags, to be meals for birds of prey, A volunteer at the sanctuary heard a peeping from the bag, and rescued him. He spent the summer with his rescue family before being brought to Cedar Row Farm Sanctuary.

Plucky is an inquisitive, intelligent and social bird, and will be an ambassador for all turkeys. He will show humans that turkeys, like all animals should be treated with compassion, respect and understanding.
