Siblings Reunited

Wilbur and Charlotte

Charlotte started off as a weak, sick piglet. She was the runt of a litter and wasn’t doing well. The farmer’s daughter took Charlotte in and cared for her for the first 8 wks, and then she contacted us. Charlotte came to Cedar Row on June 15th and with continued attention and love she grew to be a beautiful and thriving piglet.

Wilbur is Charlotte’s brother. He too was a runt. The farmer’s wife and family took him in and took care of him until he became strong and healthy. Wibur grew to love his human family and loved interacting with them. Although the farmer’s wife had grown attached to him she knew the best thing for him was to be reunited with his sister Charlotte so that they could grow up together in a home that will offer them a long carefree life.

Last Sunday we took Charlotte and Wilbur to their new home where they will live a long, happy life together.

Another Pig Falls Off a Truck

The OPP called us on July 4th; there was a baby pig found on a back road tonight and they brought her to us.

She had a rough start

This little girl had a nasty fall and has ended up with a fractured jaw. She has 2 swollen toes, and a lot of abrasions that have scabbed over. It seems like she fell off a truck at least 3 – 4 days ago, if not longer.

We’ve nursed other pigs back to health, so I’m confident we’ll get this little one feeling better with time.

Joaquin’s Getting Stronger!

Joaquin the pig

Joaquin is getting stronger everyday, and was able to enjoy the sunshine and warm temperatures today. This little guy came to us a week and a half ago with only one good leg, and this is him 12 days later.

His acupuncture treatment went really well, and the vet also put him on a natural Chinese medicine to help with the swelling on his spine. He will have another acupuncture treatment next week, and fingers crossed, he’ll be walking on his own soon.
